No Cash Reward For Super Falcons

President Goodluck Jonathan has urged the Super Falcons to remain disciplined if they want to win the trophy in the Female Football Championship, coming up in Canada that will be held from 6 June to 5 July 2015.


Jonathan was speaking to the players on Wednesday just before the Federal Executive Council meeting,  after receiving the African women championship trophy they won in Namibia last week.

President Jonathan thanked the Super Falcons for making the nation proud promising that the nation would honour them at all times.

Before the presentation of the trophy to the President, the Minister of Sports, Tamuno Danagogo described the Super Falcons as legendary, hinging their success on the tenacity of the President to support sports and the discipline in the camp of the female football players.

The President promised to host them in a bigger ceremony at a date tentatively fixed for November 5.

Nigeria are champions of the 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010 and 2014 editions of the championship



It would be recalled that the Super Falcons got $18,000 each from NFF for lifting the AWC a record seventh time at the weekend. "For the group stage matches, the girls got $3000 each. They got $4000 for winning the semifinals and $5000 for lifting the cup. So all together they got $18,000 bonus outside their camp allowances.", NFF general secretary Musa Amadu disclosed to journalists after a ministerial reception for the team.
